Why won't the Kurk's answer these questions?
With no experience, and even less conviction, Heleen "hell-on-wheels" Kurk
has entered the political arena by winning a seat on the board of selectmen.
The Kurk's are quickly becoming Weare's "Royal Family" headed by Neal "King"
Kurk (her husband) who is School Moderator, Town Moderator, and a state
representative.
After you congratulate Heleen on her win, consider asking her one or more
of the following questions, especially considering her views on ensuring
high ethical standards for those who participate in local government.
- Should people who don't live in Weare be allowed to vote for Weare
Candidates?
- Was it just coincidence that your husband, acting as a state
representative, voted to change NH election laws after your daughter's
absentee ballot (cast in Weare) was challenged and her vote refused
in the November 2002 election because evidence showed she was living in
Hawaii?
- Why did your daughter's website in Hawaii suddenly disappear from the
Internet after a formal complaint was made to the Supervisors of the
Checklist referencing that website as evidence that her home was in
Hawaii?
- Do you consider it a conflict of interest for your neighbor, a
sitting member of the Supervisors of the Checklist, not to recuse herself
from participating in complaints about your daughter's voting qualifications
within the town of Weare?
- Was it just coincidence that you sold three of your properties on
Mt. Dearborn Road just prior to you and your husband actively supporting
a petition warrant article declaring the road a "historic district" which
prevented others from building on the road?
- Why did your husband fight to allow a commercial lumber business for
your neighbor on Mt. Dearborn Road after the historic district for that
road was approved by Weare voters?
